Beatrice Public Library

The Beatrice Public Library is the host facility for the Nebraska State Genealogical Society collection.  This includes over 3,000 items of interest to genealogists with Nebraska roots.  In addition, the library houses bound volumes of D.A.R. Lineage Records and part of the collection of the Southeast Nebraska Genealogical Society.

The Beatrice Public Library provides genealogical and local history resources in a climate-controlled Heritage Room.  This area includes the Library's collection of Nebraska history items, a microfilm collection of newspapers dating from 1886 as well as Gage County census records from 1860-1930, maps, and a variety of rare books and Beatrice local history items.  The library also provides eight public access Internet computers in this room.  The Heritage Room is furnished in oak furniture from the 1903 Carnegie Building and includes many library materials dating from the establishment of the first community library in 1873.  For more information, please call 402-223-3584.

The Beatrice Public Library is located at the corner of 16th and Heritage Hwy 136. The Library was built in 1991 on the site of the former Sonderegger Nurseries. The Library is also a site of the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum featuring rare trees and a wildflower and prairie grass garden.
